Our pets provide us with so much more than just companionship and affection--they are part of the family, and deserve to be commemorated in a way that reflects exactly how much they mean to us.
Each artwork is hand drawn from start to finish using an iPad Pro and Apple pencil to allow the greatest flexibility in creating your masterpiece.
All of the artworks begin as a simple graphite sketch to help ensure that the proportions will be accurate. A proper sketch can take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes to complete, and is one of the most crucial parts of the artwork because it forms the foundation on which the rest of the painting resides.
For the Toto package, the sketch is refined and values are added to complete the final drawing.
Adding in blocks of color help define the structure of the artwork and make sure there are no gaps. It's also a great way to quickly review the source photograph and make sure the brushstrokes are in the right spot when completing the finishing details.
For the Lassie package, the artwork is reviewed for stray marks or graphite lines and the brushtrokes are refined while maintaining the lively, active style of the underpainting.
After the color is blocked in, the detail work begins. This involves many hours of painstaking attention to detail for every part of the portrait, from the tips of their ears to their bright shiny nose. The eyes are always the best part of the detail work--they add so much life to the painting!
The Clifford package ensures that every little detail of your pet is immortalized in stunning quality for you to enjoy for many years to come.
I used to draw on anything I could get my hands on (including the headboard of my bed when I was six, perfecting my five-point star technique--sorry mom).
At Brigham Young University, I graduated with a BFA in Fine Art, Painting & Drawing. I learned so many things from my time at BYU: technical skills, definitely, but also (and perhaps more importantly) lessons about the process of creating art itself. That using the best and finest materials available helps you create the most beautiful work, and if your art is something you're proud enough to put your name on, every detail should sing with beauty and be perfectly executed.
I discovered digital painting in 2015 and was quickly hooked. My favorite thing about digital painting is its moldability. (Also, being able to straight up erase the "paint" is not so bad either.) Digital painting is quickly becoming one of my favorite mediums to work with, and it has so many unique and beautiful qualities that make it a joy to use.
I currently live in Alexandria, VA with my husband, sweet son Theo, and 3 year-old Vizsla pup named Vika. Life with them is a pretty sweet gig; painting is my lovely icing on the cake.
