ARTWORK

+ CAN I REQUEST SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN THE OFFERINGS ON YOUR WEBSITE?

Absolutely. I will let you know if it's something I can do, and provide you with a quote for the work. Shoot me an email at hello@daniellestratford.com or fill out my contact form.

+ CAN YOU FRAME IT FOR ME?

Yes, I offer custom framing as part of the additional options. I have partnered with Musea, a small company who prides themselves on their archival museum-quality framing, for my clients. This ensures the best preservation of your artwork to museum-quality standards. Pricing will vary depending on the size of your print and the desired style of your frame--contact me for a quote.

+ IS FRAMING REQUIRED?

No, you're free to purchase a frame from wherever works best for you! Since all of my artwork is created in industry-standard sizes (8x10, 11x14, or 16x20), it should be relatively easy to find a multitude of options for framing. Whether or not you choose to custom frame it through me, I do recommend having a frame picked out before your artwork arrives so you can get it up on the wall and protected from damage as soon as possible. The benefit to having it custom-framed is that it's mailed to you ready to hang and framed with high quality, archival materials. It also ensures that your print is safe from erosive fingerprints, dirt, and harmful UV rays so it will last for many years to come.

+ WHAT KIND OF PAPER DO YOU USE FOR YOUR PRINTS?

For the Toto package, it is a matte white cotton paper. For the Lassie and Clifford packages, I use Hahnemühle Pearl, an archival cotton paper that provides a satin semi-matte print with a slight sheen for richer colors. All papers are acid-free and use archival inks and materials rated to last 100 years or longer.

+ DO YOU OFFER WRAPPED CANVAS OR OTHER PAPER FINISH TYPES BESIDES MATTE?

Yes. For an additional cost, I offer wrapped canvas, although I believe the contemporary style of my work looks best as a matte/semi-matte paper print. I offer full gloss, satin (semi-gloss), and matte papers, as well as unwrapped, wrapped, and wrapped & framed canvas. Please contact me for a detailed quote.

+ DO I GET A DIGITAL COPY OF THE ART?

The Lassie package and the Clifford package both come with a digital copy of the artwork. The Lassie package digital copy is screen-quality and does NOT include printing or commercial rights. The Clifford package digital copy is full-resolution and includes printing rights for personal use (not commercial use).

+ DO YOU ONLY PAINT DOGS?

No, I paint all types of animals! Dog owners seem to be the most interested in commissions of their pets, but someday I'd love to add snakes, turtles, hamsters, or tarantulas to my portfolio. If you know of any non-traditional passionate pet owners, send 'em my way!

+ DO YOU HAVE GIFT CERTIFICATES?

Yes, and they're a perfect way to surprise that special someone with a thoughtful, personalized gift. You can fill out my gift certificate form to get started.

TURNAROUND TIME & SHIPPING

+ WHAT'S YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?

My typical turnaround times from the date I start the portrait until it arrives at your door is usually:

  • 2-3 weeks for the Toto package
  • 2-4 weeks for the Lassie package
  • 4-6 weeks for the Clifford package

The completion time will vary depending on commission workload, but I'll give you an estimated start date when you book your portrait. Matting & framing may extend your turnaround time by a few weeks. I also offer rush completion for an additional fee if you need it in a hurry.

+ HOW FAST IS SHIPPING?

The print typically arrives within 5-7 business days after placing the order. For custom framing, the framed artwork will usually arrive within 2-4 weeks. Expedited shipping is available for an extra charge. All orders come with tracking, and tracking information will be provided to you as soon as they are available.

+ DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

I offer free shipping to the continental US. I offer international shipping on a country-by-country basis, so please contact me for details and information on shipping costs.

PAYMENT

+ HOW DO I PAY YOU?

I'll send you an invoice with a detailed summary of your package, and you can use any major credit or debit card.

+ WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?

The initial 50% deposit is due along with the signed contract and photograph in order to secure a commission slot on my calendar. The balance of the commission fee and any additional fees (framing, expedited shipping, etc) are due 7 days prior to your portrait start date. Prints and framed work will not ship out until payment is received in full.

+ CAN YOU DO A PAYMENT PLAN?

Yes! Please contact me for inquiries. Keep in mind that work will not be shipped to the client until payment is complete, so a payment plan will delay delivery of your artwork until payment is complete.

JUST FOR FUN

+ WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

I have too many to name, so I'm going to be sneaky and do three. :) For savory, nothing beats tacos. My two favorite tacos in the US are the pork adobada taco from Los Tacos No. 1 in New York City, and the pulled pork taco at Mas Tacos in Nashville, TN. I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR THOSE TACOS. (Hint, hint...#freeportrait?) As for sweet, nothing beats a good ol' slice of cheesecake for dessert. Or maybe some chocolate chip cookies. Or Moose Tracks ice cream. Or apple pie a la mode. Okay, so I may have a sweet tooth problem...

+ WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT PAINTING?

It's kind of hard to describe, but there's a moment when you aren't sure if things are going the right way or if you can do a picture justice (yes, this kind of panic happens with almost every portrait!), and then suddenly you find yourself looking at one section and marveling at the way the paint so effortlessly describes its subject. It's a magical thing and I'm privileged to experience it over and over again with your pets.

+ WHAT ARE YOUR OTHER HOBBIES & INTERESTS?

Anything that allows me to create--I love baking, embroidery, watercolor painting, DIY/home improvement projects, and also reading (current book). Basically anything that does not involve sports or hand/eye coordination, because I have zero skillz in those arenas. :)
